Materials

Copper

Copper is a magnetic energy conductor. It is known for its powerful grounding forces...clearing negative and stagnant energy. Its high vibrational pulse is said to bring positivity and mental clarity---improving cognitive function, memory, and concentration. Copper may amplify one’s intuition and acts as a portal between the physical and supernatural realm. It is also believed to balance the mind and heart chakra. This warm earthen material also enhances the metaphysical properties of crystals and the other various materials placed within its rings. All my work contains 100% real copper wiring.

Beads

I use nothing but the highest quality materials i can get my hands on. I fell in love with recycled glass African trade beads, most of them are sourced from ghana and I use them throughout my work as they bring a frothy and wabi sabi element. Glass beads bring light, sparkle, and reflection into the work. Real metal beads sourced from Nigeria, Ghana, and Ethiopia most of them weathered from age and touch, fill rings with texture and stories. Semi-precious beads and crystals hold such power in their metaphysical properties, and are each selected for their  adding such depth to this work. The balance of texture and color within the rings is a perfect dance of light and air from glass and crystal, while metals bring substance and depth.

Each piece is given an eye...whether that is an Asfour crystal or broken mirror. These eyes are meant to give the work sight, and reflect its surrounding back to us.

ASFOUR CRYSTAl eye

Asfour crystals are made using high-quality silica sand sourced from the Sinai desert. However, the inclusion of up to 30% lead oxide is a key component in the makeup of the crystal. the lead content not only creates an incredibly dense and heavy crystal, but significantly increases the crystal’s refractive index which creates an incredibly brilliant and sparkly crystal. These factors give the Asfour crystal recognition as being an incredibly luxurious crystal, along with having exceptional clarity given the lack of inclusions, bubbles, and other blemishes. When a piece receives this crystal as its eye, light from the other side is shape shifted and put into focus as physical energy in our space.

When a piece receives its sight through mirror, each piece is hand broken into the desired shape. As I catch my reflection through the jagged raw edges of broken mirror, flashes of the broken dreams throughout my life reflect back, but this time, in perfect harmony..surrounded by beauty caught in its web. All is as it should be, a delicate dance.
